The difference between VIP, gold, platinum and standard premium mobile numbers in Australia — with real price bands from $500 to $50,000+ and the patterns that command each tier.
"VIP mobile number" is a marketing term — not a carrier classification. Every broker uses it slightly differently. Here's the tier system we (and most serious Australian sellers) work with, and what each tier actually costs.
Standard premium — $300 to $1,500
These are the entry point to the premium market. Typical patterns:
- Four-repeats at the end: 04XX XXX 7777
- Clean ABAB endings: 04XX XX 3939
- Short straights: 04XX XXX 1234
A good pick if you want something easier to remember than a random 10-digit string but aren't looking for a status piece.
Gold — $1,500 to $8,000
Gold-tier numbers combine memorability with a lucky or symmetrical pattern. Typical examples:
- Five-repeats: 04XX X 88888
- AAABBB: 04XX 888 999
- Full palindromes: 04XX 12 3 21 X
- Strong 8- or 9-heavy tails
Gold numbers are the sweet spot for small businesses, cosmetic clinics, property agents and rideshare drivers who want a number clients remember on first contact.
Platinum / VIP — $8,000 to $50,000
This is trophy inventory. What you'll see:

A tiny fraction of numbers ever hit this band. Think 04XX 8 88888 8, or combinations that tie a lucky pattern to a memorable prefix. Sales are usually private and off-market. If you're looking at this tier, ask about our private inventory.
What doesn't matter (contrary to what some brokers say)
- The carrier the number is on. Every 04XX number ports between Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and any MVNO in Australia.
- The 04XX prefix itself. Prefixes have almost no premium in Australia (unlike some overseas markets). What matters is the last 4–6 digits.
- Whether it's "post-paid" or "pre-paid". After transfer, you activate it on any plan you choose.
